Why We Started Notes from Palm Springs
There are plenty of websites that tell you where to stay.
There are plenty of magazines that tell you what to buy.
This isn't either of those.
Notes from Palm Springs exists because we've always believed that the best places don't just inspire vacations—they inspire better ways of living.
Palm Springs has a way of slowing you down. Morning coffee tastes different here. Dinner lasts a little longer. Friends gather outside instead of around a television. Architecture reminds us that simplicity often ages better than excess.
Those aren't vacation moments.
They're life moments.
At Canary House, we're restoring a 1948 desert home called Laswell. Along the way we've met artists, designers, architects, cooks, gardeners, collectors, and travelers who all share something in common: they've discovered that beautiful living isn't about owning more—it's about experiencing more.
That's what you'll find here.
We'll share remarkable homes, unforgettable meals, conversations with interesting people, design discoveries, favorite objects, hidden places, and ideas worth bringing home.
Sometimes we'll introduce an artist whose work belongs in every thoughtfully designed room.
Sometimes we'll tell you about a tiny café you'll never forget.
Sometimes we'll simply pause to appreciate why a perfectly placed chair beneath a tree might be enough.
Because that's what Palm Springs teaches us.
Vacation isn't a place.
It's a mindset.
Welcome to Notes from Palm Springs.
We're glad you're here.
